Pardon?
Last week at breakfast I joined Lieutenant #1, LT #2, and Captain #3 for a little chow and conversation before the workday started. While sitting there, CPT #4 stopped by and offered a 'congratulations' and kept going. When LT #1 gave me a quizzical look, I gave him an "Oh by the way, we found out the Wife is pregnant." The rest of the conversation went something like this:
LT #1: "That's awesome, man. Way to go."
LT #2: "Hey, so you had some sex. Good job!" (Apparently that misconception has now reached two continents. My bad.)
Me: "And the funny thing is, LT #5's and CPT #6's wives are now pregnant and due at almost the same time."
At this point, CPT #3 speaks up: "OK, I know how this works. Your kid will look like LT #5; his will look like CPT #6..."
[Now, I might normally expect this sort of comment from my fellow officers. What caught me off guard was the fact that it came out of CPT #3 who is our chaplain!]
LT #1: "Wow. You have definitely been spending too much time with us."
CPT #3: "Well, the real world walks in through my door every day..."
