Curse Ye, Blogger

*Note* While at the COP, I couldn't get anything to save, except comments. It's a few days later, but the post below is from the 13th.

I just spent an hour writing. And Blogger didn't bother to save the draft. It's three am. Here's the short version.

Things are going pretty well.

I commanded the company while the commander was on R&R leave. Good to be the King. Not going to stay in to take a command because the Wife can't take it anymore.

Went home on R&R in March. Flew from Kuwait to Bahrain to Germany on Gulf Air. Plane full of Arabs. Interesting.

Two weeks R&R. The Boy still likes me. The Wife really likes me. Didn't do anything. It was great. Went for walks and I did chores, but only changed one diaper. Don't feed your one-year-old sauerkraut.

Back to work in April. I've been a CPT wearing LT rank for approaching three months, now. Waiting to get pinned. Not too worried about it. (Getting paid.) The new XO had bumped himself into my job (and my room) when I got back, so I'm hiding at the COP. Not a bad life. I'll be going to Baghdad to be XO of another company in the near future and am shamming in the meantime.

Were recently debating whether I'd be redeployed by the All-Star Break or for the Pennant races. Following the SECDEF announcement yesterday, we're shooting for Christmas.

Please, for the Wife's sanity's sake, look into vacationing in Germay. Franconia in summer is gorgeous, the heart of the German wine region, and easy access to many wonderful European locations. Free lodging.

That's all for now. I'll try to do a better job of updates.

Having problems with all the acronyms, too, Matt?

First of all, I don't like to think that I'm the sole reason you're not taking a command. You have my blessings to do so, I'm just not going to come with. No sense in being alone and geographically isolated from EVERYONE for another three years. Second of all, those of you who've been saying you want to come see Germany, seriously, now is the time. As soon as the guys return, we'll be making plans to move and it will be difficult to entertain guests (unless you're willing to sleep on an air mattress). I'm going to try to hit a bunch of places here this summer since it's become abundantly clear that my soldier won't be home for a long time to go with me so if you'd like to join me, send me an email and I'll let you know where we'll be headed.

I fear your pleas will fall on deaf ears, Love. Or no ears, rather, as I haven't any readers.

That's okay--we haven't had any visitors yet and I doubt that we will before we leave anyway. International flights are expensive, we've learned that the hard way. Very. Painful.

Maybe I should just help you pay for a ticket home.. how does that sound Manda?

It's not paying for it, it's actually doing it...with the boy. I'm still having trouble getting him on a good Germany schedule. That's why I was hoping we wouldn't have to do that again in order to see folks...

well you know I would come in a heartbeat but I cant miss work.. this job thing sucks!

And that is forever our problem isn't it? People want to visit but need jobs to buy tickets and can't get vaca if they need the job. And traveling with a toddler sucks. I'm sure it does and I'm preparing myself for the trip in a few days that will begin with 24 hours of hell, followed by seeing B after nine months and pretending not to be tired:) But the army life rocks right?!?

And I read your blog - just rarely have anything interesting to say. Unless you want more updates on problems with kids and foods like sauerkraut.
